They knew where I was, even if only roughly. The only problem was that stripping the server sounded the alarm. I managed to reach the first server before they caught sight of me, by the grace of the techno-god who will one day be born in the belly of the machine. If I couldn’t go unseen, I’d have to play dirty. Step into sight of it, and it would start up that irritating siren. I didn’t mention the car? Yeah, they’d elected to drive the vehicle with an optical alarm. Unlike hunters themselves, who can see in any direction, his cameras could only see one way… but that wasn’t going to help me when he had every major intersection locked down with cameras and the hunters’ car.

He had three cameras he could install around the base.

Perfect for flushing me out of an enclosed space.Īnd Watcher? He was almost worse. Just like that, the duo could spread apart and determine which was closer to me. But - and this is the bad part - Tracker could order Rover to sniff me out. Rather, he’d just bark, signalling that I was somewhere within his line of sight. The upside was that Rover couldn’t pinpoint my exact coordinates. Not only did I have Tracker’s eyes looking out for me, but also Rover’s nose. See, Tracker was accompanied by Rover, his trusty murderdog. Part of that was thanks to their abilities. It’s their job to spread across the facility, sniff out some clues, and then close in on the agent before they can perform their mission and slip away.įor this job, Tracker and Watcher had yet to catch sight of me, but they were doing beautifully at making sure they’d know the instant I poked my head above the grass. In Specter Ops - and it doesn’t matter whether we’re talking about the original or Broken Covenant, since they’re pretty much the same thing - one player is the agent, creeping around on a pad of paper rather than on the board. And while they didn’t know where I was, they’d begun to cobble together a pretty good idea of where I wasn’t. Their names were Tracker and Watcher, and they were pros at this. Get in, strip three of the four terminals for incriminating data, get out.īut like all the best heists, there were some kinks in my plan. Looking forward to playing it with more than three people where one of the hunters is a double-agent.Thirty minutes. Definitely recommend it to anyone interested in a semi-cooperative game, bluffing, deduction, hidden agent, grids, etc. Very easy to pick up the game (again if *cough* you understand how a grid works). and a couple surprises where the hunters were completely wrong about the agent's location. We had quite a few laughs from accidentally discovering the agent or taking long-shot guesses to find the agent. The hunters on the other hand are trying work together as a team and leverage their special abilities (unique to each hunter) to stop the agent (who also has unique abilities). Overall, the game is very suspenseful for the agent who is trying to sneak, trick, and leverage items to make their way around the board. The agent doesn't have a figurine on the board until he is "seen" thus the hunters are trying to guess what cell of the game board the agent is currently on. The other players are "hunters" who are moving around around the actual game board with figurines, tracking and trying to shoot down the agent. In short, one player is the "agent" who has his own paper copy of the notepad and makes his movements around the board in secret, trying to collect objectives. This game plays like a modern version of battleship with the theme of futuristic spies/counter intelligence. I do not own the original game and played Broken Covenant a few times with two buddies.

As I understand it, Broken Covenant can be played both as an expansion to the original game and as a standalone game.

I understand that there are issues with more than one cells and potentially how some cards are cut/shaped, but mistakes happen and in this case should not prevent you from buying the game. If you are incapable of reading a grid, this game is not for you. However, if you are capable of recognizing that D28 should come after D27, you will not have an issue. A few of the cells are incorrectly labeled. In short, the biggest issue is that: the game board is a grid system numbered 1 through 32 and A through W. I bought this game in July 2019, the misprint still exists and I don't believe there will be a second edition. I am baffled that folks are so upset with the misprint issue that they'd give it one star, dramatically affecting the game's overall rating and in turn lowering buyer interest. First and foremost, if you're concerned with the overall rating this game holds on Amazon, PLEASE ignore that. I've never felt so compelled to write a review for anything I've purchased, thus this is my first review Amazon review.
